Behind the Provocation, the Reality: Why "Withdrawal" is not a Plan

At first glance, the new CELLINI hoodiebrings a smile. With its slogan "Withdrawal? It's not a plan" and its ironic comparison to hotel WiFi, the tone is set: it's about sex, protection and unfiltered humor.

But if this message is plastered in bright red on your back, it's for a much darker reason. In Tunisia, when contraception is taken lightly, the consequences aren't just a "whoops." They amount to thousands of shattered lives.

The Taboo of Births Out of Wedlock

In Tunisia, premarital sex remains a major social and religious taboo, although attitudes have changed. A lack of sex education and blind faith in unreliable methods (such as withdrawal) directly lead to unwanted pregnancies.

Faced with social pressure, family rejection and fear of judgment, many single mothers are resorting to the unthinkable: abandonment.

The shocking figures (Tunisian statistics)

To understand why this hoodie is more than just a garment, we need to look at the statistics. According to reports from local organizations (like SOS Children's Villages) and data from the INPE (National Institute for Child Protection):

  • Between 1,200 and 1,600 births outside of marriageare recorded each year in Tunisia.

  • This represents approximately 4 births per dayresulting from unofficial relationships.

  • Many of these children are abandoned at birth or placed in state institutions, due to a lack of family support for the mother.

  • Although Tunisian law (notably the 2014 Constitution) protects children's rights regardless of their family situation, social stigma remains the primary factor in abandonment.

CELLINI: Education through Provocation

This hoodie isn't meant to boost morale, but to raise awareness. The message is clear: luck is not a method of contraception.

Every time we rely on chance, we gamble with potential lives. By wearing this design, you're not just wearing a streetwear brand; you're wearing a message of responsibility.

We want to break the cycle. We want Tunisian youth to have fun, to live, but above all, to protect themselves. Because a child should never be the result of a "bad plan."

Protect yourself. For your own sake, and for the sake of those who asked for nothing.
